My baby boy will be two tomorrow. Just can’t believe how fast the time has gone. He is so funny and imaginitive. I’m so proud and in awe of the little guy he is becoming. Jack, I love you more than anything in this world. Thank you for teaching me the true meaning of love. Happy Birthday. ♥ ♥

Love with all my heart,

No, your eyes are not deceiving you. That is, in fact, a real baby – not a doll. I know, hard to believe. This gorgeous little girl happens to be my awesome cousin’s three-month-old daughter Zoe. We had a great time snapping some pics yesterday and Zoe was a great model (except in that adorable black and white dress… For whatever reason, Zoe *hated* this dress and let everyone know it until the second got her out of it. haha!)

Are you *kidding* me with those eyes? I mean, seriously.

So I was Lady Gaga for halloween last year (dont judge me!) and i’ve been dying to do some photos with the wig ever since, for whatever reason. Well here we are 9 months later and i finally got around to it! I’m not sure why, but that middle photo.. i’ve had that exact photo in my head ever since we got this new rug. its fun to play dress up every now and then. be someone else for a little while. these almost make me wish i could pull off being this blonde all the time. almost.

Liam : One Year

After two cancellations due to illness and the neverending rain, i finally got the pleasure of photographing this little guy over the weekend. We had a great time, and Liam did great considering this was right during his naptime! We got to play in a stream, with some balloons (before they flew away) and even bubbles. So fun! It was tough narrowing it down, but here are a couple of my favorite shots from our session – love the one of mom laying in the grass, that one was just a test shot for the last shot of the day (that didn’t work out cause little man had given us all he could). Love those happy accidents! :)

a letter to my son.

Dear Jack,

I’m not quite sure how it happened, but somewhere along the way you became almost 19 months old. Some days it feels like it was just yesterday that I was anxiously waiting for that call from the hospital telling us to come in and start the process of bringing you into this world. When we brought you home, it felt like you would be little forever. I quickly realized that is not the case. Time flies by so quickly, Jack, and your baby days are forever behind us now, never to be experienced again. And though some days it makes me sad, I love watching you grow and learn new things and the way you study everything so hard and thoughtfully as you take it all in.

Where does the time go, sweet Jack? I always wish I could freeze it, stop it, maybe for just a little while. Keep you my baby boy a little longer. At a wedding I attended recently, I remember watching the mother & son dance with tears streaming down my face, thinking how one day that will be you and me. Maybe it seems silly. Obviously it’s a ways down the road, but I feel like it will go by in the blink of an eye. Today was one of those days where all of a sudden I realized time is passing me by so quickly, and I’m not appreciating everything as much as I should. So I’m trying to take the time and remind myself that I need to savor these moments, because they are so fleeting.

So here are a few thoughts and promises I would like to make to you…

Sometimes I get impatient with you too quickly. I know you don’t mean to do things to intentionally upset me (well, most of the time). You are just small and curious about everything around you, and don’t know any better. I promise to try and be calmer, and let you be little. I promise to try and be more patient with you.

I try to be the best mom I can to you, Jack, but sometimes I feel like I’m not doing enough. I know that we are both learning this as we go, sometimes I just wish I had all of the answers. The two hours a day I get to see you during the week don’t leave much time to play or go to the park or the zoo or any of that fun stuff that families should do together, especially when there is dinner to be made and baths to be had and dishes to be done. The weekends seem to get so busy so quickly with chores and errands and commitments, and It breaks my heart and I promise to try harder to make the time to do fun things with you.  Chores and errands can wait. You are only going to be little once and for such a short time.

I wish I documented you more. I know people will think I am crazy for saying that with how many pictures there are of you, but I feel like I haven’t done a very good job documenting little things about you that I love. Like the way you say certain words, or how incredibly smart you are, or certain faces you make. Before I know it you won’t do them anymore and they will just be a memory. I need to write things down in your baby book, or take videos or photos, so that one day when you are my big grown up son, we can look back at some of the sweetest memories of my life and you can know how loved you are. I need to be better about that.

Throughout your life you are going to encounter so many different people. Some of them will be amazing and inspiring, some of them wont be. People will be mean to you and try to bring you down for one reason or another. Maybe they are jealous or unhappy, whatever the reason, they will do it.  I wish I could protect you from any harm that may come your way, but I know I cant. Just know that no matter what, you are loved very, very much.

So my dear Jack, I promise you I’m going to do my best to make the most of this time that we have, to make sure I capture the little things, because I never want to forget any of it.  Someday, when you are grown, I want you to be able to look back fondly on memories of your childhood, the way I do with mine.

I love you more than you could know.

Baby Audrey

A few months back, I had the pleasure of photographing this handsome little guy. So naturally I was thrilled when I found out that his brand new baby sister was here, and that I would get to photograph her as well! She was as sweet as she could be, and tremendously calm considering she was wide awake for our entire session. She just loved checking everything out! Of course, she crashed hard as soon as the session ended…It’s hard work being the star of the show, you know. I sooo enjoyed photographing her, she was a dream. I almost forgot what it was like to be around teeny tiny little babies. almost.

the month of love : red

well, today marks the last day of the month of february. i LOVE this day, because i hate february so so much, and the last day marks the end of the worst two months of the year! the hope for spring begins! yay! Today also marks the end of my Joy of Love photo challenge. I did pretty good throughout the month, i think, and only missed a handful of days. So, i figured I would end the month of love with a tribute to the color red. (that, and i got a new dress that i love so much i would like to marry, so, yeah. photos). ha. :D

the {joy} of love : days 19 & 20

days 19 & 20! hard to believe the challenge is almost over! i absolutely loved the topics for these two days. i love capturing the details of my little guy. things change so fast, its easy to forget how they once were.

day 19 : the hands
these are some busy little hands, right here. there is so much to explore when you are 18 months old, don’t you know? i could just take a bite out of those chubby little fingers!

here is jack’s version of “itsy bitsy spider” :)TheHands4wm.jpg TheHands5wm.jpg

day 20 : a portrait
so this topic isn’t anything crazy that i haven’t posted on here before, but, hey. any opportunity to capture my sweet little man’s portrait is a-ok with me. though you would be surprised how tricky it is to actually get him to look at me. he is stubborn that way. ;)

such sweet eyelashes…portrait2wm_1.jpg

love his little baby ears…portrait3wm.jpg

and yes, another one of me and the boy. i’m always the one taking the photos, so its nice to have some with him for a change. shame this was sort of impromptu and i couldn’t prepare for it properly and either set the camera up somewhere else or switch lenses. an arms length self portrait with a 50mm lens is a pretty tight crop, so sorry for the uber close up. :) but Jack actually gave me a “Huggie” as i took the pic, just wish you could see more of it! love those huggies!portraitwm.jpg

the {joy} of love : days 17 & 18

Ok… so truthfully at this point I don’t really know what day I’m on. I’ve missed a few here and there that I just didn’t love the topic or was too busy that day, so i’m kind of picking ones I like and going from there. :) I thought I would combine these two topics into one post, because it’s kind of a before & after kind of thing: What it’s like when they are Home vs. Away. And what better to compare a before and after of, than the status of my house before & after baby boy wakes up.

So, here is my living room at 7 am on a Sunday, before Hurricane Jack wakes up:

HomeAwayWM.jpg*insert singing angel music here*

So, around 7:30 Jack wakes up, eats his breakfast, and then heads straight for the toy basket. It doesn’t take but a few minutes before almost every toy in the house is scattered everywhere.

Home1_wm.jpg Home2_WM.jpg Home3_wm.jpg(in this one above, he had to take a break from playing with his toys to dance to the intro of “Thomas the Tank Engine”, who he affectionately refers to as “Tommy”).

As a side note, i can’t WAIT to get rid of that horrible cheap disgusting carpet. We are in the process of looking into getting it replaced with laminate very soon, and i seriously CAN. NOTWAIT.

Enjoy your Sunday!

My love of the arts has been evolving since I was two years old when my grandmother taught me how to draw a simple little face. What began as crayons and finger paint eventually grew into pencils, charcoal, oil paints and Photoshop. I've always known I was going to be an artist. There was never anything else I wanted to do. I am very passionate about my work, and totally, completely, wholeheartedly in love with what I do. Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoyed creating it!
